Hopefully, you recognize Daisy from the Introdogtion post from Monday. Daisy has the esteemed honor of being the first pup showcased on the Doggy Blog. I thought she would be an adorable throughline from that post to this one. And she has earned that distinction by being a stone-cold sweetheart.
Daisy is super chill. When I first started walking her she always offered a bark or two when she heard the key in the door, only to stop and yawn when she saw who it was. Now though, nary a peep from her at all. Quick to friendship, Daisy is.
I typically walk Daisy in the mornings, so there is usually a lot of sun coming into the apartment and she’s always masterfully curled up in the pockets of warm light. She won’t budge (I mean, who would?) until I put the leash around her neck and then she reluctantly stretttttches and pops up.
On our walks, she never barks at people or other dogs. She does, however, sniff literally everything in her path, and occasionally gazes into the distance with her leg pointed like a...pointer. There’s a garden path that we walk down from time to time, and when the weather was warmer and beautiful green things were still alive, Daisy would always stop to smell these giant lavender bushes. Ah hell, to be totally honest, we both spent quite a bit of time smelling those lavender bushes. Dogs just *get it* sometimes, ya know?
Upon returning to the apartment, Daisy always posts up on the couch, legs folded like origami and head perched delicately on a pillow. In contrast to that reserved grace, I then bequeath to Daisy a Kong toy stuffed with some sort of yellow-orange food spread, which she begins to dig into immediately. It's these contrasts that make Daisy a true dog of the people.
I leave Daisy to her treat and politely bid her adieu, "Au revoir, ma cherie!"
